IRAN - HAJJ - PILGRIMS RETURN TO TEHRAN
IRAN, Tehran: Two men sit on a curb in Tehran, Iran on September 29, 2015, only days after a deadly stampede took the lives of over 1,000 people, 228 of them Iranian, while performing Hajj rituals near Mecca, Saudi Arabia.So far, the largest number of casualties identified is from Iran. This has triggered an uproar in the country with President Hassan Rouhani blaming Saudi incompetence and mismanagement for the mass deaths. Photos taken by Newzulu contributor Mohammad Moheimany show the pilgrims receiving an emotional welcome by friends, families and loved ones at the Imam Khomeini International Airport.The crush, which also injured more than 934 people, is reported to be the deadliest incident at the Hajj in some 25 years.
