Vicunas and alpacas graze in the Atacama
The photo was taken on the road through the Andes near Paso Jama, Chile-Argentina-Bolivia. Vicuna (Vicugna vicugna) or vicugna is wild South American camelid, which live in the high alpine areas of the Andes. It is a relative of the llama. It is understood that the Inca valued vicunas for their wool. The vicuna is the national animal of Peru and Bolivia.
